Do You Know How the Social Media World Reacted to the Super Bowl Ads? Want to?

    Last updated 7 years ago

Did you make sure to Tweet about your favorite Super Bowl ad? If you didn't, plenty of others did this year. In fact, while most of the discussion on social media focused around the actual game, commercial discussions came in second.

According to Lauren Indvik and data released after the "big game," it was a good year for Super Bowl commercials. Discussions were more favorable regarding the ads this year but could that be because of the relatively low expectations people had regarding the game.

"According to the social media analytics tool Trendrr, Chrysler’s “Detroit/Eminem” was the most buzzed-about spot, at least on Twitter, where users cited the commercial 19,781 times during the hour it premiered. Disney’s teaser for Transformers 3 was the second most popular ad, with 18,215 tweets in the first hour. Doritos’s fan-created commercials garnered 15,800 tweets in the first hour of the game and 15,050 in the second collectively." (Mashable).

Afraid you missed out on an enlightening, side-splitting, disappointing or overly predictable commercial, then check out YouTube's Ad Blitz. And if you want to see my favorite, watch the video above.

So, what was your favorite Super Bowl commercial and why did it make the cut?

    Facebook Launches Deals Page

    Last updated 7 years ago

If you thought social media giant Facebook would allow Groupon and LivingSocial to have all the fun in the deals market space you'd be dead wrong. While Facebook initially launched its deals page back in November 2010, they have just expanded their market to include Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the U.K.

Considering the success of both Grouponand LivingSocial  in the deals market space it comes as no surprise that Facebook would want to hop on the deals train as well. According to Facebook's blog, they "launched Places to let you share where you are with your friends and see who's nearby. Now with Deals, you can also see what offers are nearby and share those deals with your friends."

    Get Deals Where You Are

Now you can find local deals on a map, just as you would using Facebook's official iPhone or Android apps or by accessing touch.facebook.com on your mobile phone. Unfortunately, it appears that these deals may only be available on iPhones, Android phones or Windows 7 Phones. So much for those of us still using Blackberry phones.

    Deals for Every Occasion

If you're lucky enough to have a phone that supports the Facebook Deals page, you're able to get a wide-range of deal opportunities. From individual deals to loyalty and charity deals, Facebook definitely offers a wide range of discounts, free items and gifts to good causes.

    Business Owner Opportunities

So as a consumer, of course we love Facebook Deals but how does it benefit you as a business owner?

Here's how Facebook Deals can help your business:

    • Helps you engage with your customers
    • Allows you to reward loyal customers with discounts and special offers to help keep them loyal to your business
    • Build valuable relationships with this influential audience
    • Drive more traffic to your business
    • Social distribution
    • Naturally generated "word-of-mouth" marketing
    • Provides potential customers who are nearby a reason to check out your business

Emily White, Facebook's Director of Local, told the Wall Street Journal that since Facebook Deals launched in the U.S. in November 2010, "millions" of people have used the service and more than 50% of the merchants have elected to renew their offers. (Mashable.com - Lauren Indvik)

For more information on how create your own Facebook Deal, check out The Complete Guide to Facebook Deals.

But how does it naturally generate "word-of-mouth" marketing?

Most Facebook users have an average of 130 friends online. So when I check in to your business through Facebook and you're offering a deal, all of my 200+ friends now have the opportunity to hear about your business and your deal through the naturally generated word-of-mouth marketing generated by Facebook's newsfeed. Plus, my friend's are going to be more inclined now to use your services because they value my opinion of your business more than any type of advertising you could create. Talk about a great return on investment!

Wanda's Words of Advice: Transform Angry Customers Into Loyal Customers

    Last updated 7 years ago

No matter how hard we try, even the best customer service professionals, at one time or another, will have to deal with an angry customer. Take Wanda's Words of Advice to learn how you can transform those angry customers into loyal, profitable customers.

Wanda's Quick Tips for Handling Angry Customers

    1. Remain calm and collected.
    2. Genuinely listen and care about the customer's concerns.
    3. Do not interrupt the customer.
    4. Paraphrase the customer's concerns back to clarify that you undertand their concerns correctly.
    5. Pose multiple solutions to their concerns.
    6. Resolve the issue as soon as possible.

Angry customers are actually super valuable to your business if you handle the situation in what constitutes in a "win" on their behalf. By resolving their issue to their satisfaction, they can become one of your most loyal and profitable customers. Sure they may tell people they had a bad experience but they'll also be sure to follow it up with how fantastic you were at resolving their complaints. They will let other consumers know that if something does go awry, they can trust you to fix it. And as much as we all want quality services and products, we also want a company who stands behind their products. So make sure you back yours with exceptional customer service.
